I hit my goal

...for today and crossed the 40,000 word threshold.

I also typed a four-letter-word I never thought would end up in this story.

I'll give you a hint. It starts with 'L'.

  1. Lava. Lama. Leet (or |337). Lick? Hrm. Lump? Lush? ... Lynx? I suspect the story must have had laws by now.
    "I lauded Triss'...' Nah.

    1. Thanks :) I'm pretty happy I've gotten this far and am hoping to get another 1,000 words tomorrow and Thursday.

My fingers and brain are itching to finish the present-timeline so I can write the Jackson dies timeline...

  3. I couldn't find a comment box on the "What I'm Writing" page, so posting here - I've never understood the whole "Y/A" positioning - do publishers insist on it? Is the implication that only teenagers would be interested in reading it? Coz your plot sounds perfectly poised as a general fiction book -I'm 28 and I'd probably be interested in reading it.
Don't you think you might be reducing your prospects by tagging it as Y/A? I'm sure you know better, but I'd like to know your thoughts on how the categorization happens.

    1. Nice to meet you :)

Those are some great questions that, I think, deserve a proper blog-post-response rather than the bumbling-stream-of-consciousness response you'd get if I replied directly in this comment box, so...

...would you mind telling me which story you're referring to, specifically? 'Cause there's a few different ones listed on my 'what I'm writing' page :)

..though I feel like I sold my soul a little by typing that 'L' word...

I'm HOPING I can complete the present-timeline before this weekend (since I won't be home... again...)

  6. Congrats. I'm thinking "lilo". Or, wait, no, it's "love" isn't it?

  7. It may have pained you to write it but it shows your character's consistency and growth. Sometimes the character does know better. It's a logical progression in this case

    1. It did pain me. heavily. Thankfully s/he only thinks it.

Although I still haven't written the last chapter yet, so who knows what other unexpected developments and words may pop up...

Type me out a line of Shakespeare or a line of nonsense. Dumb-blonde-jokes & Irish jokes will make me laugh myself silly :)
