Well, tonight after dinner (we ate outside on the patio), I stood up and about 30 yards away... the doe was giving birth.
To another set of twins.
While she was licking them clean, her other children (the yearling buck and the older set of twins born last year) played around, chasing each other, but kept going up and checking up on the doe and the newborns.
How freaking awesome is that?

We were able to snap a pic, but we didn't want to get close. Can you spot her? She's dead centre, just to the right of the rock. She's looking at the camera, so you can see her big ears sticking out of her head.
...now I so don't want to move. Where else can you get a show like that?
But seriously, that's how freaking tame they are... I can usually walk within 10 feet of them and they don't even bother standing up.
That is so cool! Keep updating your followers on your deer herd.
ReplyDeletewell, one of the older twins ate every branch off my tomato plant this morning...
DeleteI haven't seen the doe and her new set of twins since she gave birth.
I can't really see her but then I have crap eyes. I was thinking you wouldn't want to move... amazing :D
ReplyDeleteOh by the way - my blogging is about writing...
Well, she's pretty tiny... since the picture was just taken with the phone, I couldn't real zoom in and I didn't want to linger any longer than necessary.
DeleteI was able to see that perfectly still head looking dead at you. Such a cool thing. Glad you got a pic and thank you sooooo much for sharing with us.
ReplyDelete...kinda like one of those 'Where's Waldo' books, eh? Glad you could find her ;)
DeleteI'm on the lookout and will take more pictures next time I see them :)
